• 2026 Public Comment: K-12 Mathematics Standards and Content Connectors

  • Pursuant to Indiana Code (IC) 20-31-3-3, the Indiana Department of Education (IDOE) convened review committees of K-12 educators, higher education professionals, and parents to review and propose updates to the Indiana Academic Standards for Mathematics supporting instruction for students in kindergarten through grade 12.

Additionally, IDOE convened K-12 special educators to review and propose updates to the Indiana Content Connectors. The content connectors are alternate standards aligned to the Indiana Academic Standards and designed to measure the knowledge and skills of students with significant cognitive disabilities. Alternate standards are necessary to ensure all students have access to grade-level aligned content.

IDOE welcomes constructive, actionable feedback on the draft standards and content connectors during this public comment period from Friday, July 17, through 11:45 p.m. ET on Friday, August 7, 2026.

IDOE will reconvene review committees to address feedback and formalize recommendations. Finalized standards and content connectors will be presented to the Indiana State Board of Education for adoption in October 2026, and implementation by Indiana schools beginning with the 2027-2028 academic year.
