• Public Comment: Indiana’s Request for a Waiver of Statutory Requirements of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA)

  • The Indiana Department of Education (IDOE) is preparing to submit an Elementary and Secondary Education (ESEA) waiver request to the U.S. Department of Education for flexibilities related to paraprofessional requirements and Title I, Part D transition services. The ESEA waiver will allow IDOE to continue offering flexibility in these areas with a goal to further reduce administrative burdens for local education agencies and best support Indiana students.

    As required, IDOE is seeking public comment on the waiver request. Comments will be accepted from Friday, August 14, 2026 through Sunday, September 13, 2026.
